Colligan Law LLP has promoted Alexis V. Fretwell to associate attorney. Since 2022, Ms. Fretwell has served the Colligan team as a law clerk within its commercial litigation service area. Her work has included labor and employment matters, product liability issues, tax, contract and fiduciary duty disputes, and other topics. She previously served as a legal assistant with Colligan Law as well from 2021 to 2022.

Ms. Fretwell also completed a clerkship with the Hon. Lawrence J. Vilardo, a U.S District Court Judge, after graduating with her degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law School (UB). While at UB, she was a member of the law school’s trial team and a semi-finalist of the Syracuse National Trial Competition in October 2020. She also held leadership positions within the campus’ Latin American Law Students Association as well as the Asia Pacific Law Students Association.

Prior to UB, Ms. Fretwell was a legal assistant for firms in Garden City, N.Y., Washington, D.C., and New York City, working on workers’ compensation, corporate litigation and medical malpractice defense matters. She is also a graduate of Gettysburg College, where she studied abroad in Spain while earning her bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in Middle Eastern and Islamic studies.

Ms. Fretwell is a member of the New York Women’s Bar Association and the Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association. A native of Long Island, she now resides in downtown Buffalo and enjoys volunteering at the AKG Art Museum in her spare time.
