Trinity Health Mandates All Employees, Colleagues, Must Be Vaccinated

Trinity Health is the latest health care system to issue a mandate that all colleagues, clinical staff, contractors, and those conducting business in its health care facilities must be vaccinated against the COVID-19 or else, "face termination of employment."

Trinity Health is a huge health delivery system that includes Catholic Health of Western New York.

Trinity operates 91 hospitals, over 100 continuing care facilities, and hundreds of primary and specialty locations.

In its July 8, 2021 press release, Trinity notes that its 117,000 employees deliver health care to 30 million people across 22 states.

Most will have until September 21, 2021 to submit proof of vaccination to Trinity. Foreseeing the possibility that COVID booster shots may become necessary in the future, the announcement makes clear any subsequent booster will also be required.

Trinity cited the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimate that more than 331 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in the U.S., and declares vaccines "have proven to be safe and effective, with more than 99% of COVID-19 deaths today occurring in unvaccinated people."

Vaccine exemptions will be limited to those that are formally requested, documented, and approved on religious or health reasons.

"Trinity employees who do not meet criteria for exemption and fail to show proof of vaccination will face termination of employment."
