Colligan Law LLP has added Gregory Zini, an attorney with more than 28 years of commercial litigation experience across a broad spectrum of industries and issues, to its growing commercial litigation practice.

Throughout Mr. Zini’s career, he has represented corporations and professionals in complex litigation matters. His legal experience includes commercial transactions, corporate governance, dissolutions, employment, franchise litigation, fraud, HIPAA compliance, noncompetition/confidentiality, shareholder relations, taxation, trademark infringement, unfair competition, and other business torts. His industry experience includes construction, commercial real estate, private equity and lending, information technology, restaurant/hospitality and more.

Zini joins Colligan Law having most recently been with an Albany-based commercial litigation firm, one of four such firms with which he has worked throughout his career. His career began in Washington, D.C., litigating on behalf of multiemployer benefit plans in federal court and administrative proceedings before the U.S. Department of Labor. He then worked in trademark litigation and bankruptcy adversary proceedings, usually representing franchisors, before returning to his hometown of Buffalo. Zini also formerly served as a visiting adjunct professor with the University of Arkansas School of Law, and as general counsel with a regional information technology provider.

“We are very pleased to welcome Gregory as the newest member of our team,” said Managing Partner Matthew Pelkey. “His substantial experience in commercial litigation will be a tremendous asset to our clients as we enhance this expanding focus area.”

Mr. Zini is a graduate of the University at Tulsa, where he earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.), as well as the University at Buffalo, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in English. He expects to receive a Master of Arts in Theology through St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore in May.

“I am excited to work with several lawyers whom I have known professionally for years, and I appreciate the ‘bench depth’ of this firm,” said Zini. “I am especially eager to work with a strong, nimble firm with great flexibility in accepting new clients.”

Zini has been named among the SuperLawyers (2013-2020) and Best Lawyers in America (2014-2022). A member of Leadership Buffalo’s Class of 2011, he is also active in the pro bono community, representing the needy and taking on multiple cases on a volunteer basis each year. He has served on the boards of a number of charitable organizations as well.
