I am proud to have been selected to serve on the Erie Canal Development Corporation's board under 3 NYS governors. During that time I strongly advocated for the re-installation of the historically aligned canals and bridges, the creation of Wilkeson Pointe and the public access and greenspace on the Outer Harbor. My only hope was that someday Buffalo would be recognized for its very historic waterfront. That day has come now that Buffalo has been recognized as one of 5 "most remarkable" waterfronts in the world!
Led by the specially created Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation, the city and state cleaned up the waterfront and oversaw the demolition of the vacant Memorial Auditorium, clearing the way for the restoration of cobblestone streets and a canal system that in winter becomes New York’s largest outdoor skating rink.
